The Kroger Company is America’s largest supermarket chain that was founded in 1883 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company’s headquarters is in downtown Cincinnati. It was founded by Bernard Kroger. The company operates about 3,600 stores, including the supermarkets and multidepartment stores. The company also runs more than 700 convenience stores under the names of Quik Stop and Kwik Shop.

History

The company started its humble beginnings when Mr. Barney Kroger invested his life savings. $372, to open up a grocery store in downtown Cincinnati. He is a son of a merchant, who had a simple motto for his business and that is to be particular. Never sell anything you would not want yourself. He tried many ways just to satisfy the needs of his customers. He even experimented making his own products, particularly bread-making, so that his customers would not need to go out from the shop to look for bakery. Early in 1955, Kroger acquired supermarket chains and expanded into new markets. The company purchased three supermarket chains namely; Henke & Pilot, a Houston-based store; Krambo Food Stores, Inc., a Wisconsin-based store; Childs Food Stores, Inc., a Louisiana-based stores. In October 1963, the company acquired Market Basket, a store chain in southern California. By 1972, Kroger became the first grocery retailer in the United States to test an electronic scanner. The company also pioneered in using the latest technology such us QueVision, an innovative faster checkout program. It is used to reduce the time customers waiting in line to check out. Krogers continued to open stores in Pennsylvania region. The company also continued to innovate their stores by adding more amenities such as bakery, deli, seafood counter and other non-foods departments which sold things like television and other electronics devices. After the company’s 100 years in the business, they merged with Dillon Companies, Inc. to become operators of food, drug and convenience stores. Then in 1999, Kroger teamed up with Fred Meyer, Inc., the fifth-largest grocery company. After merging, they created a supermarket chain with a broadest coverage formats in the food retailing industry. Kroger now has more than 2,400 stores in 31 states and ranks as one of the world’s largest retailers.

Merchandising ASP
As the Mechandising ASP, you will provide support and problem solving to the Catefory/Commodity Manager in managing the merchandising group to achieve its goals and objectives. You will create and maintain reports, assist in setting department meetings, and respond to issues and concerns
of the department.

Technology KTM ASP
You will provide administrative support for KTM and associates. Maintain communications between the Store Managers, Coordinators, Districts and General Office. Have strong customer service skills, plan and meet deadlines.

Produce Clerk
You will provide excellent customer service with a safe and clean environment. You will provide the right products at the right time with accurate pricing. Other essential functions such as: unload the produce trucks, wash and trim if necessary the wrap produce then clean and helping in conducting an inventory.

District Advisor
You will be responsible in directing and supervising activities involved in operating group stores in an assigned area. You will support the company’s vision and mission statements and maintaining high standards of store image. You will supervise and coach personnel, provide performance review and provide feedback to direct reports. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job position.
