Starbucks Coffee is a global coffee company that based in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. Starbucks is considered as the largest coffee company in the world. The coffee company has more than 20,000 stores worldwide, particularly in the United States, Canada, China, Japan and United Kingdom. All their coffeehouses have become familiar to all coffee lovers all around the globe. Starbucks serves freshly brewed coffee, iced coffee, chocolate and espresso beverages, smoothies, teas and other bakery items. It was founded in 1971 by Zev Siegl, Jerry Baldwin and Gordon Bowker.

As part of the company’s community service, Starbucks provide projects in every community where their stores are located. All their employees and customers are encouraged to give and dedicate their time and energy to their local neighborhoods. They provide a Starbucks Community Service Website for everyone to see all their community projects worldwide. The company started the Starbucks Foundation to help strengthen communities by funding literacy programs in the United States, Canada and around the globe.

Starbucks is committed to providing young people with opportunities through employment, education and training. The company developed Youth Leadership Grants in 2008, wherein they develop young people to become extraordinary leaders.

Starbucks also established Farmer Support Center to support local farmers in production, reducing pest and disease and improving their coffee quality.


Starbucks Coffee, founded in 1971 by three partners who were students from University of San Francisco. They were Jerry Baldwin an English teacher, writer Gordon Bowker and a history teacher Zev Siegl. They were inspired to sell high quality coffee beans after they had taught by Alfred Peet on his style of roasting beans. They plan to call their company Pequod, after a whaling ship from Moby Dick but rejected by some of the founders. The company named Starbucks, after the chief mate on the Pequod. The first Starbucks cafe was located on Western Avenue, where they only sold roasted whole coffee beans. In 1984, the owners of Starbucks purchased Peet’s. They operated six more stores in Seattle by the year 1986. By 1987, the founders sold the Starbucks chain to Howard Schultz, former employee, and he began expanding quickly. The same year, the company opened their stores outside Seattle particularly in Canada and Illinois, U.S. Starbucks outlet had grown to 140 outlets in 1987. In 1996, the first Starbucks outside North America opened in Toko, Japan. In 1998, the company entered the U.K. market with 56 outlets. In 2002, they opened their first store in Mexico with over 250 locations all over Mexico. In 2003, the company opened their stores in Peru and 2007 in Russia. In 2008, Starbucks opened a community website wherein their customers can send suggestions and feedbacks. The same year, they introduced a loyalty program where they offer some perks such as free Wi-fi internet access, free refills on coffee or tea and no extra charge for soy milk and other syrups. Currently, the President and CEO of Starbucks is Mr. Howard Schultz.

Starbucks Team Member
As a Team Member, you will deliver a fast, friendly and fun Starbucks experience. You will prepare beverages, according to the company’s specifications. You will greet customers coming into the store.

Store Manager
As the Store Manager, you will help the store connects with the customers every day. You will lead your store operations, customer satisfaction, product quality, hiring and team development.

Shift Supervisor
As a Shift Supervisor, you will assist the Store Manager in managing store operations during shifts. You will deploys partners and delegates certain tasks so that they can create and maintain the Starbucks experience for every customer.

District Manager
As a District Manager, you will be the motivator and mentor to guide the store managers in your district and develop their talent. You will be responsible in ensuring customer satisfaction within your district and measure the financial performance within your area.
