Red Lobster was founded by Bill Darden in 1968 which is located in Lakeland, Florida. In 1970, General Mills acquired Red Lobster and the company grows rapidly. In 1974, Red Lobster introduced Popcorn Shrimp and became a favorite American dish. In 1983, the company opened their first restaurant in Ontario, Canada. In 1984, they introduced Lobsterfest as part of their promotion to give their guests the best variety of lobster. In 1988, they introduced their famous and delicious Signature Biscuits. By 1989, Red Lobster was operating more than 400 restaurants in the U.S. and 55 restaurants in Canada. In 1996, they introduced Walt’s Favorite Shrimp, their menu item named after their earliest employee. In 1995, Red Lobster became a part of Darden Restaurants, Inc. along with Olive Garden as their sister chain. In 1997, Red Lobster introduced Life on Land is Dry theme where they let their guests eat with their hands only while serving fresh seafood. In 2003, Red Lobster celebrated their 35th anniversary of serving fresh and delicious seafood in North America. In 2004, Endless Shrimp was introduced and became a guest favorite promotion. In 2008, they introduced fire grilling in all their restaurants. By 2010, their restaurant design changed completely to a new Bar Harbor design and decor. In 2013, Red Lobster celebrated their 45th anniversary and operating more than 660 restaurants worldwide. In 2014, Red Lobster becomes a private restaurant company.
Careers at Red Lobster
As the general manager, you will be responsible in leading your restaurant operations, able to demonstrate leadership set by the company.
As a service assistant, you will assist in clearing, replenishing tables; maintain floor cleanliness and stocking of server stations. You will also interact with guests in a friendly manner.
As the host/hostess, you will demonstrate genuine hospitality and give an excellent dining experience with every guest. You will introduce your guests to their server and manage the restaurant waiting list. You will always thank the guests as they leave and invite them again to return.
You will work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment and prepare high quality food items to the guests. You should be able to follow recipe and guidelines in preparing the menu items and ensure that special request of the guests are met.
