Cracker Barrel is an American chain of combined restaurants and gift stores. It is a great company to work for if you want a career in restaurant industry as we’ll see why in the following lines.

Company History -

Cracker Barrel was founded by Dav Evins in 1969 in Lebanon, Tennessee, where it is headquartered to this day.  Dan Evins, its founder was a sales representative for Shell Oil and the idea of a combined restaurant and gift store was a plan to improve gasoline sales. It opened in September 1969, serving mainly Southern cuisine like country ham, grits, green turnips at affordable prices. Initially, the chain’s stores were positioned near highway exits in Southeaster and Midwestern U.S. Cracker Barrel expanded in the 1990s and 200s across the country. Today, the chain has more than 600 stores in 42 states.

Cracker Barrel provides a lot of job, both entry level and corporate. We will look at some of the entry level jobs provided by the chain below.

Servers – This job requires the candidate to interact with the guests and promote merchandise and menu items. The job might require the candidate to do some cleaning and lifting work as well. This job requires a good knowledge of the menu and superior communication skills.

Host/Hostess – This job requires the candidate to perform dining duties such as pouring coffee, writing the menu specials and maintaining a clean environment. The candidate will need to have a good knowledge of the menu.

Grill Cook – The candidate is required to cook a number of menu items and present it in an eye-pleasing and efficient manner. Good grasp over culinary skills is required for this job.

Cashier – For the job of a cashier, the candidate must have a basic knowledge of math, numbers and money for cashing out guests after their meals or store purchases.

Busser/Dishwasher – This job requires the candidate to be able to lift and carry light loads and to be able to operate equipments such as the dish machine. The candidate will need to make sure that the kitchen staff has the equipment they need in order to effectively serve guests.

Night maintenance – This job requires the candidate to be able to perform tasks such as moving furniture, buffing floors, cleaning appliances and emptying trash receptacles. The candidate will be required to demonstrate basic math and measuring skills for this job.

Getting a job at Cracker Barrel’s -Cracker Barrel Belleview

Getting a job at Cracker Barrel will require you to go to the nearest Cracker Barrel and fill out the application form as their website, which is www.crackerbarrel.com does not provide any printable form for hourly jobs. Click on the URL for the website, then head over to the “Careers” section of the website either from the top of the page or from the bottom of the page. Once in the “Careers” section, to the left side you will see several categories. If you wish to apply for a Hourly paying job, click on “Hourly jobs”. This is where all the entry level jobs are. If you want a restaurant/retail management job, click on “Restaurant and Retail Management Careers”. Now, once you are inside “Hourly Jobs”, you will see various hourly paying jobs listed there.  However, if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will see that it says this:” If you’re interested in joining our team, drop in and fill out an application at the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store nearest you. Use our restaurant locator to find one in your area.” So you are required to locate the nearest Cracker Barrel store and go in to apply for a job. Now, if you head over to the “Restaurant and Retail Management Careers” section, you  will see below two links, one of which says “Cracker Barrel employees click here” and another one that says “New applicants click here”. Click on the latter. There, you will find a login screen on top and a search bar for jobs at the bottom. You can type a keyword for a job (Example : General Manager) and then type the location (Example : Atlanta or 30332) and then click “Go”.  You will have the results of the search displayed but in order to apply, you will need to create an account which you can do by going to the previous screen and clicking on “Create profile without applying to a job” below the login fields. Or, you can click on “Create a new account” after you click “Apply” for any Management job. The “Create a new account” button will be below the login fields.
