Applebee’s is an American company that focuses on casual dining. Founded nearly three decades ago and operates today as the largest casual-dining chain in the world. The company is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri and being managed by Julia Stewart as the CEO of DineEquity, Inc. and Steven Layt as President. As of 2011, there were more than 2000 restaurants operating system-wide in the United States and 15 other countries.



The Applebee’s started by Bill and T. J. Palmer who opened their first restaurant T.J. Applebee’s Rx for Edibles & Elixirs on November 19, 1980. And in 1983, the Palmers sell the Applebee’s concept to W.R. Grace and Company. Bill Palmer,becomes an Applebee’s franchisee by the year 1985. He guided the operation from entrepreneurial beginnings to a full-pledged franchise system. In 1986, the name is changed to Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar to reflect the Palmer’s original concept. Abe Gustin and John Hamra purchase the rights to the Applebee’s concept from W.R. Grace and Company by the year 1988. And in 1989,  Applebee’s International Inc. became the restaurants chains franchiser when Abe Gustin and John Hamra purchased the rights to the Applebee’s concept from W.R. Grace. On July 16, 2007, IHOP Corp. agreed to buy Applebee’s International for about $2.1billion and after acquisition IHOP Corp. changed its name to DineEquity Inc. where Julia Stewart is the chairman and chief executive officer of DineEquity. Applebee’s and DineEquity merged in 2007 that makes the largest full service restaurant company in the world.

Franchise Area Director – As a Franchise Area Director, he/she acts as a liaison between the company and the franchisee to promote and align business objectives. Provides regular leadership on cross-functional projects with system impact. Functions as a trainer, coach and mentor for new Franchise Area Directors.

Restaurant General Manager- As a Restaurant General Manager, the perfect candidate will be responsible for the overall operation of the restaurant, directing the activities of hourly employees and store managers. He/She ensures restaurants administrative and accounting duties are promptly and properly completed.

Assistant Manager – As an assistant manager, he/she promotes and manages restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation. Ensures prompt, friendly service according to company guideline. Manages associate performance and completes all other assigned duties and responsibilities.

Kitchen Manager- Will be responsible for building and leading a talented team of Hourly Team Members to deliver a memorable guest experience, and serving the community and grow sales and profitability.

Service Manager- He/She will be responsible in problem solving and decision making, developing and coaching team members, attracting and retaining top talent to build high performing teams.
