In 1946, Clarence Hoogland, who was the father of Charlie Hoogland founded Midstates Appliance and Supply Company. Charles inherited the business in the year 1953. Because of being stuck with a large inventory of videos in the late 1970s, Charles started the Video Movie Club in Springfield, Illinois. The club later came to be known as Family Video. Family video has several managerial positions and a customer representative position. As a customer representative for Family Video, you get hourly compensation plus commissions. Your responsibility as a Customer Service Representative will be to handle the store operational tasks that have been delegated to you be the Store Management. You can also apply for the position of assistant manager, which is a full-time position only. As an assistant manager, your responsibility is to manage the store when the manager is not on duty. Furthermore, you are to act as a prime Customer Service Representative in the store and lead by example for the other CSRs working at the store. You will be performing retail management functions. If you wish to go for the position of the store manager, you are trained by Family Video for the position. The training program lasts 12 to 16 weeks where you will be acquiring proficiency in all functions of the store manager. You will develop the necessary leadership skills for the post of the manager. With the training as well, you’ll be managing the store when the manager is not on duty. The training program will prepare you for the position of the full-time store manager.

Full-time employees get health care benefits, which include medical, dental, life and other insurance plans. A full-time employee is eligible for participation after 3 months of employment.
Paid day offs – In addition to the 6 paid holidays a year (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day), employees are entitled to paid day offs of 3 or 6 days for employment of less than a year, 6 days for a year, 13 days for two years, 18 days for five years, 20 days for ten years and 23 days for 15 years.
